I had almost forgotten about 'Leader of the Pack'. It will take another 20 years now...

Like the Confused though, I do have strangely fond memories of the show. Probably right not to revisit them though!Cocktailshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06091341579556869010noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8499949614093219266.post-45272203002220799882011-01-23T22:29:21.536+00:002011-01-23T22:29:21.536+00:00The Confused - I think "The Rhinestone Cowboy...The Confused - I think "The Rhinestone Cowboy" may well have featured, and also been a single (although I can't seem to find any trace of it online, so maybe I dreamt that!)

Whilst he's still a well-known figure these days, it's hard to imagine him being given a show of his own again. Truly one of those acts who had a good summer then disappeared into the world of occasional TV appearances and regular theatre work (and there are many others from that era, not least the much-hyped "Whose Line Is It Anyway" regulars Tony Slattery and Josie Lawrence).23 Daveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06341570374606412042noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8499949614093219266.post-54939737261872848192011-01-22T21:26:28.069+00:002011-01-22T21:26:28.069+00:00Yes... I remember Julian performing this 2 or 3 times on his and Paul Merton's nuking of game shows, "Sticky Moments"!

Indeed a rather curious talent for that era. Absolutely loved "Sticky Moments" - would love to see those again though I suspect they won't have aged too well. Still, I have fond memories of it, like one occasion when Julian announced the Pope... and on walked some beanpole wearing a box on his head onto which was plastered a picture of the Pope and Julian camply greeting him "Oh, hello Mr Pope..." Quite a few references to Judith Chalmers and Linda Lusardi throughout the series as well.

Of course, he closed each show with a song... almost Mike Yarwood in a way, close with a song and people would instantly switch off. We never switched off, but he sure was no singer and I can't honestly remember much about what songs he did apart from this one and I think, "Wandrin' Star."The Confusednoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8499949614093219266.post-12631616288094095132011-01-22T09:51:27.887+00:002011-01-22T09:51:27.887+00:00The interesting thing about the Lamont joke - one ...The interesting thing about the Lamont joke - one which I thought had been wiped because if it's ever shown on telly it's off VHS, but there's the actual British Comedy Awards account proudly displaying it - is that that's the setup line to "talk about a red box!", which Clary can hardly get out with conviction given the reaction he's already got.Simonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05834265575179460764noreply@blogger.com
